Guide - Llyn y Fan Fach, Carmarthen Fans

This area is in the Carmarthen Fans in the Carmarthenshire section of the Black Mountain. It’s located in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. There are a plethora of routes, peaks and lakes to see!

Public transport access to the this mountain range is available via the T6 Traws Cymru bus route. The weather can change quickly so stay safe and ensure you’re kitted out for every scenario.

This guide will give you all the details you need to reach the start of the trail via public transport from Cwtsh Hostel. We also recommend a hike to complete while you are there.

Step 3: Once you get off the bus, start the trail in an anti-clockwise fashion.

On the trail you will encounter: Fan Hir 761m, Fan Brycheiniog 802m, Llyn y Fan Fawr, Bannau Sir Gaer 750m, Llyn y Fan Fach, Waun Lefrith 679m

Step 5: Bonus points to those who plan a meal at Tafarn-y-Garreg Pub at the beginning of their hike! (Tafarn-y-Garreg literally translates to The Stone/Rock Pub)
